How To Use & Clean Stencils

Here are some basic how to instructions. Feel free to email us if you have any questions.

1. Take the clear backing off the stencil. Be sure to pull from top to bottom or side to side. Do not pull diagonally.
NOTE: If you cut apart the stencil with the backing on, be sure to mark the backing before removing the stencil. There is a right & wrong side.

2. If needed, fuzz the stencil by placing the sticky side on a towel or like material, press down, peel up. Do this until there is enough fuzz to make pulling up the stencil from the surface easier. No need to fuzz for wood surfaces.

3. Apply stencil to surface, smooth out, press down, and make sure all edges of art work are secure, including the inner parts.

4. Use squeegee to apply chalk paint or ink. Put a thin even layer over the stencil, moving top to bottom or side to side with squeegee. Scrape off extra paint and return to container. Do not let the chalk paint dry before removing the stencil. Remove stencil slowly, avoid pulling diagonally.

5. Clean both sides of your stencil using cool running water and your fingers. Do not use your nails. (Rub gently on adhesive side.) Be sure to get the screen clear of gunk.

6. Once clean, lay flat with sticky side up and replace the backing sheet. Turn over and squeegee excess water out, removing the water and air bubbles. Some discoloration or staining may occur, but will not affect the use of the stencil.

**Do not use disinfectant wipes or magic erasers. This will ruin the stencil.
**If you want to make the stencil more sticky, you can "huff' on it before applying to surface.
